The honorary society for high school theatre students, The International Thespian
Society, has troupes in more than 3,900 North American schools and has inducted more
than two million members since its founding in 1929 - Ohio EdTA has over 200 Thespian
Troupes and Junior Thespian Troupes troupes enrolled.
Firestone’s Thespian Troupe, #5570, was chartered in 1997 and has since that time
has inducted over 200 Thespians. Firestone Theatre students are very active in Thespian
events including leadership, state and area conferences. We have taken several full-length
plays to conference and have placed many students in the Individual Events competition
and in recent All-Ohio productions at State Conference. Firestone Theatre also boasts
several Bob Fose Memorial Scholarship winners -- the highest honor bestowed by Ohio
Educational Theatre Association on any high school theatre student.
Six Firestone Theatre productions have been selected by the Ohio Educational Theatre
Association since 1997 as featured, full-length productions at the State Thespian
Conference. Those plays include Macbeth (2008), for colored girls who have considered
suicide / when the rainbow is enuf (2006), The Servant of Two Masters (2004), Dear
Gabby: the Confessions of an Over-Achiever (2000), The Seagull (1999), and Much Ado
About Nothing (1997).
