Stage Parents is an organization dedicated to support of and fundraising for all theatre activities at Harvey S. Firestone High School. Membership is bestowed upon all parents of VPA Theatre Students and active Thespians as well as any other interested persons. There are no dues to join Stage Parents.
Stage Parents assist in support of activities such as ticket sales, concessions, boutique, star grams, backstage security, audition management, hosting cast/crew parties, and chaperoning for various trips and conferences, among other activities.
Stage Parents is organized under the auspices of the Firestone Choral Dance Theatre Art Parent Association (FCDTA)., a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the arts programs at Firestone High School. Stage Parent fundraising includes concessions, boutique, program advertising, and various other events.
Parents of VPA Theatre students and Thespians are encouraged to volunteer their time to the highest degree possible. There are volunteer roles of various shape, size, and commitment level. Stage Parent leadership firmly believes that if every parent volunteered for just one activity, no one would have to volunteer for a second. There is a position just right for every volunteer. Call the theatre office at 330-873-3408 to ask about your volunteer role. Join the Facebook group “Stage Parents – Firestone Theatre” to become a more active volunteer.
Fundraising is a necessary evil for almost every arts organization including Firestone Theatre. Box office receipts typically cover about 60 percent of a theatre’s total expenses and we are no exception. Stage parents raise money to support the theatre program in several specific ways.
Stage Parent fund-raisers help to pay for things the school district does not. Stage Parents provide money that helps our students learn their craft; funds raised by Stage Parents pay for guest artists who help on our shows and teach our students. Stage Parents provide money to help keep our students safe; funds purchase new and safer equipment and tools we use in set construction and other technical areas. Stage Parents provide money that helps our students expand their theatrical knowledge; funds pay for master classes and workshops from professionals and other theatre artists. Stage parents provide money that ensures the future of our excellent educational theatre program; funds pay the cost of an annual recruitment campaign. Stage Parents provide money that recognizes the excellent work of our students; funds pay for the annual Theatre Awards and Recognition Dinner. Stage Parents provide money that congratulates our graduating seniors; funds cover the cost of the annual senior recognition program.
Stage Parent fund-raisers include a boutique at all theatre performances, concession sales are all theatre performances, a Fall Perennial Flower Bulb Sale, an annual Program/Playbill Ad Sale, an annual Patron Campaign, and a Spaghetti Dinner in conjunction with the school musical.
Stage parent fund-raisers are designed to be non-intrusive with a minimum amount of legwork. We strive to sell items or provide services that have an actual value to the consumer who will then support the fund-raiser out of sincere interest as opposed to obligation.
