Elephant’s Graveyard is the true tale of the tragic collision of a struggling circus and a tiny town in Tennessee, which resulted in the only known lynching of an elephant. Set in September of 1916, the play combines historical fact and legend, exploring the deep-seated American craving for spectacle, violence and revenge.

This first-time event will feature Firestone Theatre’s soon-to-be-developed Improvisation troupe under the skillful mentorship of Cleveland area director/actor Marc Moritz. Our students are fortunate to work with Mr. Moritz who brings with him 20 years of improvisational experience including work with Chicago’s famed Second City improv troupe. This single performance is destined to be a night to remember for many years to come.

Trapped in a life that can lead nowhere, Billie Jean has dropped out of school and taken a dead-end job in the local bar. Her ambitions bring her into conflict with her envious sisters, both of whom have been locked into dreary marriages too early, and her mother, who has given up on her own children and now lavishes her care and affection on her "foster daughters.” Billie Jean must fight a multiplicity of prejudices to win an education and forge her own identity.

We present the Frisch Marionette Company in a symphonic double bill. You will be thrilled by this musical program in which sight and sound are wonderfully combined to form a symphonic treat for the whole family. Peter and the Wolf performed to Sergei Prokoviev’s beautiful musical story, leads off, followed by The Frog Prince set the lively music of Dimitri Kabalevsky. This is an unusual puppet show in which “large as life” marionettes share the stage with puppeteers! Magnificent handcrafted puppets will captivate young and old alike as they recreate two classic tales. This production is not part of the subscription series.
