The organization of parents, called Stage Parents, helps to organize and run the front-of-house for all theatre performances. They do this by selling tickets, manning the concession stand, selling tickets for the basket raffle, selling items from our boutique, setting up and running the VIP room, selling StarGrams, and basically making sure everyone has a good time before the show and at intermission. Stage Parents also feed our kids during technical rehearsals, the 24-Hour Theatre Project, and any time they are putting in extra long hours. Stage Parents volunteer to serve as chaperones at all Thespian events including area and state conferences. They also undertake a number of fund-raisers throughout the year to help Firestone Theatre pay the bills.nning the concession stand, selling tickets for the basket raffle, selling items from our boutique, setting up and running the VIP room, selling StarGrams, and basically making sure everyone has a good time before the show and at intermission. I have always enjoyed volunteering for my sons' theatre programs. It’s one way I can spend more time with my boys while also being a partner in their educational experiences. I know the success of a quality program relies on the support of many volunteers, so I like doing my part. I know we have busy lives, but there is no task too small. Every little bit helps to keep our program going. It truly takes a village.
I volunteer because I have seen how hard the staff and students work to put on quality performances which I have thoroughly enjoyed these past 3 years, and I just feel like it's the least I can do. I also know that the students are learning so much not only about theatre, but about life and working as a team, no different than those who play sports. And I also know from having 4 older children that they will remember and treasure these experiences for the rest of their lives.
I find the benefits of volunteering are enormous; volunteering my time, no matter how big or small, plays an important part of the outcome. I feel it is essential to be a part of my teen’s dreams and ambitions. So, whenever I am able to offer assistance, you can count on me! Being a part of the Firestone Theatre program is an amazing thing for both the incredibly talented students as well as their families. Friendship aren’t only made on stage & in the classroom by students, but also by the parents who work together to make a “Great Show” shine just a tad bit brighter. It’s those little extra things that make this program amazing. I take great pride in being a part of those who help get the little extra things done.
